TMI Coatings applies sound deadening material to ceilings and walls to reduce noise. At 1.25 inches, the NCR (sound absorption characteristic) is .80 and at 2 inches, the NCR is .95 in accordance with ASTM Standard Tests and other laboratory tests. This material is equal to K-13 (K-13 is a brand name).
Sound deadening material consists of specially milled cellulose fibers treated with fire retardant chemicals. This "carpet-like" textured coating is spray applied to ceilings and walls to decrease noise, control condensation and reduce heating and cooling costs. The finish has high light reflectivity and an attractive appearance.
Alternate material applied by TMI is a thermal barrier which is a non-loose fiber, gypsum plaster-like material that provides protection over plastic insulation, i.e. sprayed-in-place urethane foam insulation. The thermal barrier material has successfully passed FM (Factory Mutual) and UL (Underwriters Laboratories) requirements as a thermal barrier over foam plastics. |
