Insurance carriers have approved of a cementitious fireproofing material which is sprayed or troweled onto wire mesh over clean, painted steel surfaces. Most common uses of applying this high-density coating to structures outdoors include vessel skirts and supports, tank I-beam legs, and any critical structural steel. The majority of applications are in refineries, petrochemical plants, liquid gas plants or wherever a fire risk is a potential. The final result is a hard, firmly bonded fireproofing system, giving protection up to four hours (depending on thickness) in a real fire situation.
This versatile fireproofing material is durable, weatherproof, washable and lightweight.
TMI Coatings has had extensive experience with this specialized UL approved material. Customers report reduced insurance rates after application to their critical areas.
TMI Coatings' Chemical and Abrasion Resistant Flooring Systems
Industrial flooring coatings can help maintain neat, safe and orderly plants,
and logos can help identify aisles and busy intersections. TMI Coatings is experienced
at installing a wide variety of industrial and commercial flooring and coatings, ranging
from thin-film (3-5 mils) coatings for dust control of concrete up to 1/4"
thick concrete flooring toppings for heavy industrial use.
TMI Coatings installs a wide variety of flooring systems ranging from thin-film (3-5 mils) for dust control of concrete up to 1/4" thick floor toppings for heavy industrial use.
Some of the benefits you receive include decreased spalling of concrete and reduced
maintenance cost because it is easier to clean the floor and increased morale of employees
when working in an aesthetically pleasing area. One of TMI's customers called recently to have
the floors coated in the manufacturing area and Machine Shop because he wanted to "create
a nicer environment for the employees working in those areas". When the TMI salesperson
called to follow up after the job was completed, he said, "Now we will sweep and mop to
keep it looking nice!". Coatings can be applied so that the finished surface is smooth
or aggregate can be added to provide slip resistance required for safety.

Our building restoration and building painting services can make your building look new again. TMI Coatings' building restoration services use tuckpointing to replace missing, eroded, or damaged mortar. Tuckpointing with new mortar also helps to maintain the structural integrity of the building. Building painting can also give the structure a fresh look as part of the building restoration process.
The first step is a careful and professional analysis of the scope of the building restoration project.
Next, all brick areas are power-washed to reveal the full extent of the restoration needed.
Deteriorated or missing brick is replaced with matching brick and cracks are routed out and filled.
The building is then tuckpointed to replace missing mortar.
Finally, the finished surface can be coated with an elastomeric, weather resistant coating, which comes with a 5-year labor and material warranty. An elastomeric waterproof coating provides long term protection against wind-driven rain. This coating covers more thoroughly than paint.
TMI Coatings has the skilled staff, state-of-the-art coatings and the desire to be your partner in this project.
Industrial Coatings
TMI FIBERLIFE Coating
In some facilities (such as food and manufacturing plants), peeling paint cannot be tolerated. TMI FIBERLIFE (low odor) industrial coatings for ceilings and walls offer a dependable solution for those applications. FIBERLIFE industrial coating provides a seamless surface that is tough, durable, and easily cleaned.
TMI FIBERLIFE is FSIS approved and meets USDA requirements for use in federally inspected meat and poultry plants. Because FIBERLIFE is reinforced, it is suitable for industrial use. FIBERLIFE can be sprayed or laid up by hand.
TMI Elastomeric Waterproof Coating is a liquid applied urethane coating that cures in hours to form an elastomeric membrane with exceptional strength and flexibility. It is sprayed and/or roller applied and adheres to most substrates, forming a chemical and abrasion resistant barrier. The coating is ideally suited for splash and spill and/or short term immersion service of acids and alkalis for secondary containment. It forms a monolithic, impermeable liner required for decorative ponds and fountains, reservoirs, cooling tower basins, pits, sumps, and dikes.
TMI has used this waterproof coating in mechanical rooms, boiler rooms or any environment where leaking water can occur. The leaks can travel through cracks in the floor and damage the substrate or leak through to a room below causing electrical outage.
TMI Elastomeric Waterproof coating has a proven record of performance in very demanding environments. It continues to maintain flexibility and resilience in all climates.
Important Features
Forms a tough elastomeric membrane able to bridge cracks and joints
Impervious to water and most aqueous chemicals, providing a long lasting tank and pond liner
Asphalt extended urethane formula provides superior wear and weatherability
Fully adheres to and bridges between common construction materials such as concrete, steel and other metals, pavement and wood
Environmentally sound, complying with the toughest VOC regulations
Elastomeric Waterproof Coating with Fiber Reinforcement
TMI Elastomeric Waterproof Coating is a liquid applied, acrylic elastomer coating with fiber reinforcement. It is suitable for interior and exterior surfaces. It is durable enough to withstand years of rigorous washdowns without flaking and peeling. The elastomeric and resilient qualities of the product make it highly chip and crack resistant. It adheres tenaciously to properly cleaned and prepared surfaces.
This protective coating provides exceptional service in a broad range of applications.
Important Features
For use over surfaces requiring a USDA finish for incidental food contact
Elastomeric
Mildew resistant
Washable
Synthetic fiber reinforcement to enhance physical toughness, reduce sagging, and improve mud crack resistance
TMI Coatings has a proven track record in the dismantling and demolition of a wide variety of tanks. The following describes specific projects in which TMI safely and professionally dismantled and disposed of tanks following the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) rules and regulations.
TMI removed the existing foam insulation and then demolished two 75,000 gallon water storage tanks. The tanks were located on the roof of a large group of silos at Quaker Oats.
State: Iowa Date: 1999 Contract Amount: $74,000
TMI removed the existing foam insulation and demolished a one million gallon welded steel tank, 117 ft. in diameter x 42 ft. high. The tank also had red lead primer, requiring the removal of foam to be done by trained TMI workers. The existing foam insulation was transported and incinerated outstate, per environmental regulations.
State: Minnesota Date: 1998 Contract Amount: $45,200 plus disposal
TMI removed the existing roof of a 95 ft. diameter water reservoir and replaced the roof with a new aluminum geodesic dome. The existing roof on this tank was seriously corroded and required replacement. A 150-ton crane was used to hoist the new geodesic roof frame into place on top of the reservoir after being constructed on the ground adjacent to the tank.
TMI performed a demolition and removal of a 500,000 gallon elevated water storage tank.
State: Texas Date: 1996 Contract Amount: $46,950

This is an intense certification program, costly and requiring ongoing information submittal, annual reveiws, and site visits by SSPC (The Society of Protective Coatings). QP 1 certification is a nationally recognized program that evaluates the practices of industrial painting contractors in key areas of business. The QP 2 certification evaluates the capabilities of industrial paint contractors for their ability to safely remove and properly manage hazardous coating material in the feild. QP 2 builds on the standards and guidelines of QP 1 to further qualify the industrial contractor company in hazardous paint removal operations. TMI has the competence, experience, and ability to complete any complex project.

TMI Coatings performed protective coating work on three dust collectors, structural steel, and catwalks at Mycogen Seeds in Marshalltown, Iowa. TMI performed pressure washing to thoroughly clean all dust collectors and catwalks. The steel was sandblasted to clean and roughen further creating an anchor pattern for new paint adhesion. All steel was primed with a rust-inhibitive metal primer before applying a direct-to-metal paint coating material suitable for industrial environments.
Linings
Linings are necessary in tanks and pits to protect metal and concrete from chemical attack. Our confined-space trained crews handle a diverse array of linings for industry.
